East Circular Quay, Moore Stairs

Moore Stairs provide a link from East Circular Quay up to Macquarie Street and the Botanic Gardens. These heritage listed sandstone stairs with a central landing were built in 1861 in a distinctive Victorian era design. In 2003,.the Bennelong Apartments were built around them but the stairway was safely preserved.

  5. Very old and worn steps always make me wonder about the people whose feet have trodden the stairs, in this case grand public stairs, for over 150 years.
