"Millennial Wallscape" is a mural on a construction hoarding, around a building work site office, on the southern forecourt of the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. The six metre high, panoramic artwork was commissioned to celebrate the recent 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House. It was created by Reg Mombassa and features gum tree trunks, suburban architecture, technological infrastructure, genetically modified flora and fauna and Sydney's global icons: the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
What a great mural! So imaginative and detailed.

Wow weird on that, were then on something when they painted it
ReplyDeleteHe quite possibly has been on something. lol. Reg Mombassa is a well known musician who was in a band called Hoodoo Gurus and became an artist with his paintings adorning Mambo surfwear for many years.
DeleteIt's so beautiful! I hope they will be saving it. They did something similar at Disney World while building the new Fantsyland
ReplyDeleteA trip down fantasy lane happening there and what a beautiful trip. So lovely. Didn't click who the artist was till I read your last comment to Bill.
ReplyDeleteArtistic and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteArtistic indeed!
ReplyDeleteA great mural, beats having just a dull old wire fence around the construction site.
ReplyDeleteIf a hoarding is necessary I'm gad it is decorated so well Jim.
ReplyDeleteAre the plants taking over. It looks like it but a nice mural. I give you that.
ReplyDeleteNice mural with soft colours.
ReplyDeleteI like it when people like you give us the opportunity of clicking on the photo to get an an extra large view of the mural. The artist has a lot of things going on in it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this interesting blue. This mural is truly amazing.
ReplyDeletePlease consider returning and leaving a comment for me.
Happy Blue Monday, Jim.
Aargh that explains it the Mambo surfwear, thought it looked familiar but couldn't work out why!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday.

You could probably fish out some new detail every time you walked by it. Cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful mural, it's very whimsical!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like modern day surrealism. I especially like the eyes in the trees. I wonder what happens to the work once the construction is complete? Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether they have any plans to keep any of it.
DeleteI hope they save it - somehow I think they will!
ReplyDeleteWow Jim, the mural is really awesome and well done. I hope it is saved.

Interesting artwork, Jim. Clever way to share in Sunday Bridges. :-)
ReplyDeletehee hee... There's no rule saying the bridge you post to Sunday Bridges can't be a painted bridge! It's still a bridge in «Louis'» opinion and a welcome contribution to the meme!
