This Randwick fire station is located along The Avenue, in the eastern suburb of Randwick. It was designed by by Walter Liberty Vernon in the Federation Free architectural style and built in 1908.
Oh yes.. Walter Vernon was both monumental and wide ranging in his styles. Even better for me, he was a colleague and mentor for William Wardell in Melbourne!!
No longer operating as a fire station? The fire trucks became too big to fit through the quite narrow doors of old fire stations.
ReplyDeleteThis one still operates. The fire trucks can fit through these particular doors. You just don't see much movement until an emergency is called.
