This anchor is located at The Gap, an ocean cliff on the South Head peninsula in eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. The Dunbar was a sailing ship carrying 63 passengers and 59 crew that was shipwrecked the rocky cliff at the foot of The Gap with only one survivor. The Dunbar's anchor was recovered fifty years later and placed on the cliffs here with a memorial tablet.
The duty of memory is important, I like your picture!

Almost as many crewman as passengers. That's interesting. The anchor makes a beautiful memorial to them all.
ReplyDeleteFound 50 years later? Wow!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice way to display the anchor. Better there than in a museum. :)
