The Frazer Memorial Fountain is a former drinking fountain which is now located on a traffic island at the intersection of St Marys Road and Prince Albert Road. This heritage listed, baroque-inspired, Victorian Gothic sandstone fountain with granite basins was one of two donated to the city in 1884 by John Frazer MLC, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist. It sits directly behind St Mary's Cathedral and is close to the southern entrance of The Domain.
Of course John Frazer MLC, a wealthy businessman, philanthropist and politician, would want to be remembered in an over-the-top, gothic style :) But I don't mind that he was into self advertising... the sandstone fountain with granite basin is fab.
