The Cunningham Building is an administrative building located along Mrs Macquaries Road, in the Royal Botanic Gardens. It was built in 1874 in the Victorian Italianate architectural style as the Superintendent or Director's residence.
There are some really beautiful old buildings around Sydney. I have really enjoyed seeing them through your blog and your eyes. So glad that I came across your blog.
Terrific architectural style!
ReplyDeleteI love the unusual layered effect of this building design.
ReplyDeleteParts of it almost look Roman/Greek style - I think it needs more colour out the front - maybe flowers :-)
ReplyDeleteAmy, I think there may be flowers in that garden bed in Spring but at the end of Autumn now it's rather sparse.
DeleteI like architectural style of the building and its antagonism to the modern background. Nice composition of the picture.
ReplyDelete...Jim, the Victorian style is unmistakable, but the porch roof look oriental. A lovely mix. Thanks for sharing this treasure!
ReplyDeleteTom, I didn't see an oriental look there until you mentioned it. :) I do wonder whether it was an influence.
DeleteInteresting architecture. Quite nice.
