This St Clare's College building is located along Church Street, in the eastern suburb of Waverley. This Catholic school was established in 1884 when the Waverley Franciscan Friars brought six Poor Clare Sisters from the Newry and Keady convents in Ireland to educate the girls in the Franciscan district of Waverley.

It looks fitting for its purpose.
ReplyDeleteI like the architecture of the building.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Sunday, Jim:)
The Poor Clare Sisters from the convents in Ireland must have been a serious lot of teachers. This building looks as if it wouldn't have tolerated much frivolity.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of it, a strong building
ReplyDeletePleasant looking Chapel Jim
ReplyDeleteLovely old building!
ReplyDeleteIt's an imposing building but the arches are graceful.
