This former corner shop and residence built in the Federation Style is located on the corner of Hardie Street and Hollingshed Street, in the eastern suburb of Mascot. It is now used as an office for Poseidon Freight.
I hadn't really thought about that before but it's not unusual for benches to face away from the street here. Maybe it's considered to be safer for people, particularly children, less likely to run straight into traffic.
I love the wide veranda. Interesting that the benches face the building.
ReplyDeleteSuch a dark entry. Cool in summer. I agree with Yogi, interesting the benches face in. Or is that the usual for there?

DeleteThe old facade looks like an old fish and chips shop
ReplyDeleteIt could have been but more likely a grocery shop or milk bar in the old days.
DeleteVery appealing to look at.
ReplyDeleteNice one, Jim. These are getting rarer and rarer to see nowadays. Thank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
