Looking at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Greenway Building was built as the stables for the nearby Government House in 1821 and converted to the Conservatorium of Music in 1916.

I should try and visit the botanical garden in Stockholm, we are experiencing a few warm Sumner like days this week. Interesting design of the old stable.

ReplyDeleteStables are a nice open space that might actually be very good acoustics for such a use! What a striking building! Thank you for sharing. Aloha!

ReplyDeleteI fat fingered by first comment. I was trying to say that i bet that big buiding has great acoustics.
ReplyDeleteInteresting castle wall and that a stable was turned into a Music Hall. Wishing buildings were more honored in the states. Seems like the thing to do here is out with the old and in with the new. Sometimes buildings are even just abandoned that are quite unique in character.
ReplyDeleteWow ! Stunning architecture, it looks like a castle and is quite huge for the music planetarium. Thanks for sharing with Garden affair.
