General Post Office, colonnade

The General Post Office (GPO) building is located at 1 Martin Place between George Street and Pitt Street. The GPO was constructed in stages from 1864 to 1891, designed by James Barnet in the Victorian Free Classical style. In 1999, the GPO building was redeveloped as part of a hotel and office building behind it. A smaller post office is still located in this corner beside boutiques, cafes and restaurants. A restaurant provides outdoor seating along the colonnade.

  1. A bit like the GPO in Stockholm. Today used by the Government.

  2. I like it, it's similar to ones i've seen in Auckland and Tauranga.

  3. I like it too. But even if I didn't, we still have to save our national architectural treasures as best we can.
