Paddington, John Thompson Fountain

The John Thompson Fountain is located in Walter Read Reserve, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. It is part of the Paddington Reservoir Gardens, the redeveloped 19th century reservoir, at the corner of Oatley Road and Oxford Street. John Thompson was a poet and broadcaster who loved Paddington.

  2. Wonder if they names these places after the same ones in the UK to make them feel at home. Looks a nice garden to walk round in from the Info

    1. I suspect that's partly why they did it back in the early days of the colony. They later became more adventurous and started using Aboriginal names.

  7. Interesting information about the fountain. The other thing I noticed was the wonderful pattern and texture of the wall behind it. Terrific!
