Watsons Bay, The Gap

The Gap is an ocean cliff on the South Head peninsula, in eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. This view is from the northern end of a walkway, looking out on the Pacific Ocean. The cliff is popular for sightseers but it has gained infamy for suicides. Several measures have been implemented to dissuade those at risk including physical deterrents such as inward-leaning fences to deter people from jumping, security cameras that monitor the area and several purpose-built Lifeline counselling phone booths which also provide information from support groups.

  1. The waves crashing against the rocks are so dramatic and work well in the image. Lovely color of blue as well.

  6. The suicides are quite tragic. Forty-six people jumped to their deaths from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in 2013...

  7. Love those ragged rocks and lively waves. This spot has quite a history of tragedy, but it is still beautiful.
