Both Sydney teams were in the Australian Football League (AFL) final on Saturday night, played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) at Moore Park. The Greater Western Sydney Giants thrashed the Sydney Swans, in a one-sided game of Australian Rules football. The clock tower at the former Sydney Showgrounds, now Fox Studios, rises above the Bill O'Reilly Stand.

That's quite a stadium!
ReplyDeleteCricket never seemed to take off here. The only cricket pitch I know of is at the residence of the governor general.
And I'm guessing you don't have Australian Rules Football either. ;)
DeleteNo, definitely not.
DeleteWow. I have no idea how cricket is played. I'm just learning about the world cup since the last tournaments played. Now, cricket will be next.
ReplyDeleteEven I, a U S citizen, think your sports are better competitive sports than what we have.
look great.
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful day
Aussie rules is a tough sport Eurosport used to show matches and it was fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe players constantly run all over the field. You have to be very fit.
DeleteGood shot!
ReplyDeleteNice wide shot. American football just started here.
ReplyDeleteI am a Melburnian but my husband grew up in Sydney. So he was delighted to see the game on tv. Since there was no Australian football in Sydney when he grew up, he was delighted to see two Sydney teams displaying great football skills. Rugby looks thuggish in comparison.
ReplyDeleteGreat captured
ReplyDeleteHope those big boots aren't spoiling the turf for cricket Jim.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder what preparation is needed before the cricket season starts.
DeleteIt's very colorful!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how loud the crowd got.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
They were loud. They probably would have been louder if the Swans won because they draw a larger crowd.
DeleteGorgeous shot! Arianna
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh great shot and it's now AFL finals season .... would you believe the Aussie's have a big do in Bangkok for the AFL Grand final? It's televised live and we start at breakfast time!
ReplyDeleteIf doesn't surprise me because Aussies love their sport.
