Arncliffe, tunnel mural

These are part of a mural on the wall of a new pedestrian tunnel, under the railway line in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. Students at the nearby Al Zahra College provided drawings centred on the school's vision and purpose, which the artist used to create this mural.

Glebe, St James Hall

St James Hall is located on the corner of Woolley Street and St James Street, near St James Catholic Church, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. It was built in 1940 and houses the church hall on the lower level and school classrooms on the upper level for St James Catholic School. In the far distance you can see a glimpse of Sydney Tower which gives you an idea of the distance of this suburb from the city..

Cockatoo Island, Sutherland Dock, crane

This crane is on Cockatoo Island which has a long history of ship repair and shipbuilding activities. Sutherland Dock was built with free labour between 1882 and 1890. Nearby Fitzroy Dock was built using convict labour between 1847 and 1857. The shipyard closed in 1992 and the island is now being revitalised as a public attraction on Sydney Harbour.

Arncliffe, pedestrian tunnel

This recently opened pedestrian tunnel is under the railway line, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. This is part of a mural on the wall of a new pedestrian tunnel, under the railway line in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. The internal walls feature mural inspired by drawings made by students at the nearby Al Zahra College.

Randwick, monument, Captain Cook

This statue of explorer Captain James Cook is located at the crossroads of Avoca Street and Belmore Road, in the eastern suburb of Randwick. The sandstone statue and pedestal are the work of colonial artist Walter McGill. It was unveiled in 1874 by Captain Thomas Watson in the grounds of his residence Cooks Lodge, which is now The Cookhouse, a pub and restaurant.

Glebe, St James Parish House

St James Parish House is located beside St James Catholic Church along Woolley Street, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. This heritage listed presbytery was designed by John Kirkpatrick and built in 1878 in the Victorian Filigree architectural style.

Farm Cove, Man O'War Jetty

Man O'War West Jetty is one of two floating jetties connected to the Man O'War Steps at Farm Cove at Bennelong Point. They are adjacent to the Sydney Opera House and an entrance to the Royal Botanic Gardens. The names come from a Man O'War ship that was once anchored nearby in Sydney Harbour. Garden Island dockyard can be seen in the distance at Potts Pont.

Cabarita, Prince Edward Park

Prince Edward Park runs along the shore of the Parramatta River, in the inner west suburb of Cabarita. It features a number of gazebos scattered throughout, built in the Federation style of architecture and painted in federation colours.

Haymarket, light rail bridge

The Eddy Avenue Steel Tram Underbridge is loacted in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. It carries the light rail line over Eddy Avenue up to the Sydney Terminal Building at Central railway station. It was built in 1923 and was originally used by trams turning into and from Elizabeth Street. The office buildings in the background are along that street in Surry Hills. The trams ceased operating in 1958 but the Sydney Light Rail line began operating in 1996.

Camperdown, bandstand

This bandstand is located in Camperdown Park, in the inner west suburb of Camperdown. It was built around 1884 in the Victorian architectural style and originally stood in Hyde Park but was reconstructed at Camperdown Park in 1911.

Newtown, mural

This is part of a mural painted on the side of a shop and restaurant on the corner of Church Street and King Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The main mural depicts two people using a tin can telephone created by street artist Fintan Magee. The blue and red patterned artwork above was created by graffiti artist Elliott Routledge also known as Numskull. A view from a further distance can be seen here.

Daceyville, Dacey Gardens

Dacey Gardens is a formal garden on the corner of Gardeners Road and Bunerong Road, in the eastern suburb of Daceyville. The sign also acknowledges the entrance to the City of Botany Bay. This sign will probably be removed soon since this local government area has been merged with the adjacent City of Rockdale to form the new Bayside Council.

Botanic Gardens, Wurrungwuri

“Wurrungwuri” is a sculpture in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Wurrungwuri is an Aboriginal name meaning “this side - on this side of the water”. The sculpture created by Chris Booth and unveiled in 2011, consists of two parts. One part is built from 16,000 threaded quartz pebbles in the pattern of a rare Aboriginal Shield, the "Sydney Shield", after gaining permission from Allen Madden on behalf of the Cadigal people. The other part is a wave-like sandstone that cascades down the lawn towards towards Farm Cove on Sydney Harbour. It is an evolving piece of art where native flora and fauna can make it their home. The Johnson Estate Sculpture was a gift to Sydney by a keen art lover, who committed the bulk of his estate for a sculpture overlooking Sydney Harbour.
