Botanic Gardens, Opera on Sydney Harbour

"Opera on Sydney Harbour" is now an annual event held at Mrs Macquaries Point in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Carmen is being performed on this purpose-built floating stage on Farm Cove, between 22 March and 14 April. The stage features this huge, blood-red, Hollywood-style sign spelling the name of the title character.

  1. I saw the opera advertised on tv and wondered if we should fly to Sydney for a long weekend. Have the reports been good?

    1. Very good reviews and they have been a sellout, so new shows have been added at the end of the season.

  2. Wow! This looks as if it would be a grand experience outdoors! I presume there would be night and day performances?

    1. Only night time performances with a spectacular backdrop of Sydney skyline lit up and ending with fireworks over the harbour.

  3. That's some seriously creative advertising for the show -- and for anyone named Carmen

    1. Because this event is so popular, they have already started planning for next year which will be Madame Butterfly. So book you ticket now, Lesley. ;)
