The Captain Cook Hotel is located on the corner of Flinders Street and Moore Park Road, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. It was designed by John Burcham Clamp in the Federation Anglo-Dutch architectural style and built in 1914. It features a large bust of Captain James Cook, navigator and astronomer who led the voyage of the first Europeans to reach the east coast of Australia, landing at Botany Bay in April 1770.
