This mural is located on the side of a house, adjacent to a council car park, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. It was created by Shannon Crees in 2009 for the Wall to Wall Competition, which seeks to minimise graffiti in the local area whilst offering artists an opportunity to showcase their skills, style and creativity.
A touch of Art Nouveau blended with abstract, geometric concepts. Stunning colours and design.
ReplyDeleteJim, you find the most interesting murals, all with splashes of blue.

ReplyDeleteWe have a few murals around town, but none as pretty as this. Ours are not the nice kind.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim and greetings Sydney!
ReplyDeleteI love the way Street Art is becoming legitimised and finding its way into mainstream - I went to a wonderful exhibition in Sydney on an island a few years ago with a number of works by Banksy - who is my favourite Street Artist.
This street mural is a great example of positive street art - well done Leichardt

I wonder if that was Cockatoo Island where they hold the Biennale of Sydney. I have been to one of those.
