What a neat photo. I love the shadows cast by the sun. It really brings out the architectural features of the place.

ReplyDeleteDuring the Falklands/Malvinas War three of us from the staff at the adjoining hospice (since demolished and rebuilt) spent a couple of days removing leaves and organic build-up from this dome. There was no budget, aside from our working time, certainly no safety training or safety officers. Brown nuns resident below were hostile to all men, while the white nun - non-resident - was a lovely person. (I do not here refer to skin colour, rather to their habits.) This is one of Sydney's real secret treasures. No man has been allowed inside since it was built (as far as I know), and few women beside the residents. The view of the dome from Green Park should delight anyone.
