A view from inside the Russian Memorial in Rookwood Necropolis, in the western suburb of Rookwood. It was built by Michael Bakich and the inscription reads: In memory of all Russian Orthodox people resting in peace throughout the world. Memorial consecrated by Archbishop Theodosy 7th May 1978.

ReplyDeleteStark against the sky. I wonder whether this is the Russian Orthodox equivalent of the unknown soldier's grave. I did my high school years at Strathfield and there was a large Russian Orthodox community there. Your photo has made me wonder what happened to the girls that were in my year.
