Mosman, Bradleys Head, war memorial

The Bradleys Head Naval Memorial is located at the end of Bradleys Head in the north shore suburb of Mosman. The HMAS Sydney I memorial mast was removed following her decommissioning in 1928. It commemorates the “Sydney-Emden” action, the first engagement at sea of a Royal Australian Navy ship during the First World War on 9 November 1914 at Keeling Island near Cocos Island. The memorial also honours those who served in the Royal Australian Navy and all ships lost in service. A bridge links to Bradleys Head Lighthouse in Sydney Harbour.

Dawes Point, tall ship

This tall ship is passing Pier 2 and Pier 3 of the Walsh Bay wharves at Dawes Point. The Coral Trekker is a square-rigged, wooden tall ship with distinctive rusty red sails. Her keel was laid in 1939 and Norwegian Adventures sailed her to New Zealand as the Ho Ho 2 where she was sold into the fishing industry. She was refitted by Australian Himalayan Expeditions and renamed “Coral Trekker”. She spent twenty-five years in the Whitsundays before moving to Sydney where she is involved in maritime training and does daily sails and charters on Sydney Harbour.

Napoleon Bridge

Napoleon Bridge is a footbridge over Sussex Street, which links Napoleon Street to Shipwrights Walk in Barangaroo. It was designed by Wilkinson Eyre and Arupand and opened in 2015.

Banksia, market gardens

Arncliffe Market Gardens are located along West Botany Street, in what is now the southern suburb of Banksia. These heritage-listed market gardens have been occupied by market gardeners since 1892.

Circular Quay, boat

This Environmental Services work boat at Circular Quay is heading out into Sydney Harbour past the Sydney Opera House. ES6 is one of a pair of 12 metre long boats used by the New South Wales Government Maritime Authority since 2022.

Haymarket, Christ Church St Laurence

 

A view of Christ Church St Laurence, an Anglican church located along George Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This heritage listed church was built in 1845 and designed by Henry Robertson and Edmund Blacket in the Old Colonial Gothick Picturesque and Victorian Free Gothic styles. A shop with residence above is located alongside it on George Street and the clock tower at Central Railway Station can be seen in the distance.

South Hurstville, mural

 
This mural is located on a retaining wall along King Georges Road at Grosvenor Street, in the southern suburb of South Hurstville. It was created in 2022 by artist David Cragg in collaboration with Woniora Road School students and is inspired by local fauna. It includes a kookaburra, a superb fairy wren and two tawny frogmouths on branches. It replaces the Community Wall mural which was here.

Leichhardt, Presbyterian Church, hall

This former church hall, built in 1909, is located along Renwick Street, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. It is attached to the heritage listed former Leichhardt Presbyterian Church facing Marion Street, built in 1885 with a façade of Romanesque inspired details. The church functions ceased in 1980 and the buildings are now used as a child care centre.

Pyrmont, wharf

Pyrmont, Johnstons Bay, bench

A sunset view across Johnstons Bay to the Anzac Bridge and silos at Rozelle from the Pirrama Park wharf in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. This bench in front of the 'pole garden' has a message engraved on it, "A harbour to hunt and fish", in reference to the activities of the indigenous Guarangi people who inhabited this site.

Herald Square, sculpture

This sculpture is part of The Tank Stream Fountain in Herald Square, on the corner of George Street and Alfred Street near Circular Quay. The bronze fountain was created by Stephen Walker and presented to the City of Sydney in 1981 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper in 1831. The inscription reads: 1788: A stream flows into Sydney Cove. The European settlement of Australia begins along its sandstone banks. Soon drought strikes and storage tanks are carved from the stone, hence the name Tank Stream. The seasons pass. 1981: The tank stream fountain recalls mankind’s past dependence on this flowing stream and our links with life around this region.

Eveleigh, Locomotive Workshop, substation

 
The heritage listed Locomotive Workshop is part of the former Eveleigh Railway Yards, located along Locomotive Avenue in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. It was built in 1877, consisting of 16 bays originally used for one or more trades required to repair or manufacture locomotives and their components. It is now being redeveloped into commercial and retail space. The substation in front of Bays 5 and 6 has been covered in artwork which lights up at night featuring an employment record of a former railway employee.

Rozelle, White Bay Power Station

The White Bay Power Station is located along Robert Street, in the inner city suburb of Rozelle. The former power station is now used for exhibition space but some of the old equipment has been preserved.

Sydney Arcade, Lego Megastore

The Lego Megastore is at the Pitt Street entrance of Sydney Arcade. It features this mural of the Sydney Opera House built with 2989 Lego bricks.

Brighton-Le-Sands, Botany Bay

Barangaroo, skyscrapers

A late afternoon view across Darling Harbour, to the wharves at Barangaroo. The tallest buildings in the background are Crown Sydney, One Sydney Harbour and the International Towers. The Sirius is a First Fleet Class ferry acquired in 1984 that is part of the fleet that operates on the Inner Harbour routes. It was named Sirius, after one of eleven ships of the First Fleet which sailed to Australia in 1787.

Arncliffe, railway station

Arncliffe railway station is on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. The original buildings on Platform 3 and 4 were built in 1884 and extended in 1923. This view is from the back of the concourse where lifts were installed in 2016 to these platforms and the Burrows Street entrance.

Rockdale, Brighton Terraces

The entrance to the "Brighton Terraces" housing estate is located along West Botany Street, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. These terrace houses were built around 2000 in the Modern Victorian style. The buildings are clearly visible in the middle of winter, with the leaves fallen of many of the trees.

Brighton-Le-Sands, memorial court

This memorial court stands at the front of the Brighton-Le-Sands RSL Club, located along Bay Street in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. It contains a contemporary sculpture depicting the obstacles soldiers faced at Gallipoli in World War 1. The plaque reads: This war memorial court is dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice.

This sundial is located in the Auburn Botanic Gardens, on the corner of Chiswick Road and Chisholm Road, in the western suburb of Auburn. Visitors can stand on the circle and their shadow cast towards the hour stones will indicate what time it is.

Maddens Plains, view

This view is from Panorama House, located along the Princes Highway at Maddens Plains, a mostly unpopulated area that stretches along the Illawarra escarpment between Thirroul and Stanwell Park. The view stretches to Wollongong, a city located 85 kilometres south of Sydney.

Circular Quay, ferry

 
This River Class ferry has departed from Circular Quay ferry wharf and is turning around in front of the Bennelong Apartments and Opera Residences. The ferry began operating in 2019 and was named after Margaret Olley, an Australian painter who held over ninety solo exhibitions during her lifetime.

Newtown, mural

This is part of a mural on the side of a shop and residence on the corner of King Street and Camden Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. It was created in 2016 by artist Nico Nicoson, aka Nico, but has been replaced by a couple of different murals since then.

Kingsgrove, Uniting Church

 
Kingsgrove Uniting Church is located on the corner of Kingsgrove Road and Moreton Street, in the southern suburb of Kingsgrove. It was originally the Kingsgrove Methodist Church. The Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church in Australia in 1977.

Pyrmont, weathervane

 This weather vane or weathercock is located on the community centre at Refinery Square off Bowman Street, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. This building was the former main office or administration building of the Colonial Sugar Refining (CSR) Co Ltd, which had a major sugar mill, sugar refinery, rum distillery and building products manufactured here. The site has been redeveloped with apartment blocks like The Distellery rising high into the sky.

Sydney Opera House, ice cream van (Theme Day: Fruit)

This food van is located along the promenade at Circular Quay West, at the Rocks. It is near the Overseas Passenger Terminal and opposite the Sydney Opera House. "Artsicle Ice Cream" sells artististic, popsicle style ice cream in iconic shapes. The flavours are vanilla Opera House, chocolate Harbour Bridge, salted caramel The Rocks ASNC Building, strawberry Sydney love heart, plus they also have a coconut Snow Man and mint-chocolate Christmas Tree.
