Arncliffe, house

"Glenwood" is located along Eden Street in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. This heritage listed villa was built in 1889 in the Victorian Filigree architectural style and has been restored.

Darling Harbour, Australian National Maritime Museum

This vessel is moored at Wharf 7 of Sydney Wharf, as part of the permanent display of the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour. The Commonwealth Lightship 4 Carpentaria is a floating unmanned lighthouse that was built in 1917. It was anchored in locations where a permanent light could not be built, until it was retired in 1985. King Street Wharf and the Sydney skyline can be seen across the harbour.

Marrickville, street art

This street art appears on the roller doors of this commercial building, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. It looks like it has been used to deter graffiti and tags but this hasn't prevented the taggers from attacking the doors instead.

Gymea Bay, baths

The heritage-listed Gymea Bay Baths are on Gymea Bay, part of the Port Hacking estuary in the southern suburb of Gymea Bay. The Gymea Bay Swimming Club meet here every Saturday morning for swimming races from October to March.

Newtown, shop

This shop is located along King Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. This shop has been painted in the colours of the rainbow flag and features a sign on the awning in support of Marriage Equality, which Australia is currently voting on. The chain of "Doughnut Time" shops usually have their facades painted in a distinctive pastel green with bright green trim, as can be seen along the top of the building.

Sydney Opera House

A yacht makes its way past the Sydney Opera House, viewed across Sydney Harbour from the north shore suburb of Kirribilli. The Horizon Apartments building in the distance, dominates the sky behind the Royal Botanic Gardens at Farm Cove. This heritage listed building was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and opened in 1973 as a multi-venue performing arts centre.

State Theatre, George Street

This facade of the State Theatre is along George Street. The heritage listed theatre was designed by Henry E. White and built between 1926 and 1929 in primarily Gothic and French Empire architectural styles, with also some art deco stylings. The main street frontage is along Market Street but the George Street facade has a similar style.

Marrickville, street art

This mural is painted on the side of a house on the corner of Enmore Road and Scouller Street, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. This street art was created by Jamie Priest in 2016 and features three motor cyclists. The names on the motor bikes are those of the three suburbs which have borders here: Enmore, Marrickville and Newtown.

Rookwood, Russian Memorial

The Russian Memorial in Rookwood Necropolis, the largest multicultural cemetery in the southern hemisphere, in the western suburb of Rookwood. It was built by Michael Bakich and the inscription reads: In memory of all Russian Orthodox people resting in peace throughout the world. Memorial consecrated by Archbishop Theodosy 7th May 1978.

These ripples add charm to this otherwise drab canal that runs through Frank Downing Sportsground, in the in the north western suburb of Putney. Grove Creek empties into Morrisons Bay on the Parramatta River.

478 George Street

This 18 storey office building, known as 478 George Street, was completed in 2015. It is located between the State Theatre and the Hilton Hotel. It includes two basement levels containing an extension of the State Theatre stage, change rooms and bicycle storage, three levels of retail space and thirteen levels of commercial space.

Ashfield, fire station

Ashfield Fire Station is on the corner of Norton Street and Victoria Streets, in the inner west suburb of Ashfield. It was built in 1888 in the Federation Anglo Dutch arcitectural style but had first floor additions made in 1915.

Ashfield, Allman Park

Allman Park is located on the corner of Norton Street and Victoria Streets, in the inner west suburb of Ashfield. A memorial water fountain stands in the centre of the park surrounded by a fragrant garden. The plaque reads: Municipality of Ashfield, To the memory of Edward Albert Allman J.P. Alderman 1925 to 1944 Mayor 1938 to 1943, "True Greatness Comes By Service".

Ashfield, statue

This bronze statue of "Mary Poppins" is located in Ashfield Park, in the inner west suburb of Ashfield. It is a memorial to Pamela Travers (P.L.Travers), the author of Mary Poppins who lived in the suburb before she left Australia permanently in 1924.

Pitt Street, tea rooms

This ornate commercial building along Pitt Street, formerly housed tea rooms. George Sargent operated a bakery in Glebe in 1886 and his brother William Sargent operated a bakery in Ultimo. By World War I, the Sargent family owned owned six cafes and 36 tea rooms in Sydney and Melbourne. These premises at 252 Pitt Street were advertised as "the largest Tea Rooms in the Commonwealth". The building has had many different uses in recent years including a fast food restaurant. However, it was never heritage listed and has now been compulsory acquired for demolition to build a new railway station for Sydney Metro. Sargents Pies are still manufactured today.

Ultimo, mural (Theme Day: Sensual)

This sensual mural is on the side of a shop on the corner of Harris Street and MacArthur Street, in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. Hannah's Pies is a takeaway pie shop attached to Hannah's Bakehouse, established in 1888, which is the sole supplier to the Harry's Cafe de Wheels chain of pie shops. On display on Hannah's sensual tray is a Tiger Pie (a beef pie with mash potato, mushy peas and gravy), a Pie with tomato sauce and a Hot Dog (with tomato sauce and mustard).

Broadway, Grace Brothers department store, clock tower


This clock tower and globe lamp are part of the former Grace Brothers department store along Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. It was built in 1904 in the Federation/Edwardian architectural style as the flagship building of the department store and a matching building across the road was completed in 1923. Grace Bros vacated the Broadway store in 1992 and these buildings were restored and redeveloped in 1998. This building became part of The Broadway Shopping Centre, a shopping mall with retail space, cinemas, restaurants and car park.

Paddington, St John's Presbyterian Church

The former St John's Presbyterian Church is located along Oxford Street, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. This heritage listed building was designed by Henry Robertson and built in 1857 in the Victorian Picturesque Gothic architectural style. In 2015, it was converted into a high-end fashion boutique.

Botanic Gardens, The Calyx

"Pollination" is a flower exhibit at The Calyx, an indoor and outdoor exhibition space at the Royal Botanic Garden. The colourful garden beds feature orchids, daisies, gardenias and lilies. The green wall stands at 6 metres high and spans 50 metres and features dicondra, syngonium and heuchera.

Liverpool, TAFE College

The entrance to Liverpool College, formerly Liverpool Hospital, is located along College Street, in the south western suburb of Liverpool. The main hospital building with the octagonal tower was designed by convict architect Francis Greenway and built in the 1820s in the Colonial Georgian architectural style, as were the two Gate-Keepers Cottages flanking the main entrance. Over the years, these heritage listed buildings have been used for different purposes such as the Colonial Medical Service Hospital, Benevolent Asylum, Government Asylum, State Hospital and Asylum, before becoming a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) college.

Darlinghurst, art

This mural is painted on the side of a record shop along Goulburn Street, between Crown Street and Arnold Lane, in the inner city suburb of Darlinghurst. The wall of "Record Store" has featured a number of different murals over the years. This rainbow coloured mural with two hands forming a love heart has recently been installed as part of the Marriage Equality campaign which Australia is currently voting on.

The Rocks, St Patrick's Catholic Church

St Patrick's Catholic Church is located on the corner of Grosvenor Street and Harrington Street at The Rocks. The heritage listed church was designed by John Broadbent, reworked by John Frederick Hilly and built in 1844 in the Old Colonial Gothic Picturesque architectural style.

These palm trees are located in the centre of the outdoor exhibition space of The Calyx in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Many colourful spring flowers are currently on display indoors and outdoors.

The Rocks, chimney

This octagonal chimney stack rises above the former electricity power station, mining museum and chemical laboratory, located between George Street and Hickson Road at The Rocks. This heritage listed building was designed by the Government Architect, Walter Liberty Vernon in the Federation Warehouse style with Romanesque and Art Nouveau detailing. The electricity power station and workshops were constructed by 1902 with the mining museum chemical laboratories and chimney constructed by 1909. It became known as the Earth Exchange in 1990 but then became office space in 1996.

Dawes Point, sentry box

This sentry box is on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour, near the Sydney Harbour Bridge, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. This cylindrical sandstone building was built c.1880 to observe the foreshore area for defensive purposes. It was located next to Explosives Wharf (now Ives Steps Wharf) which was built around the same time to transport explosives from Goat Island to the Dawes Point Battery.

Walsh Bay, Tri

This kinetic sculpture sits at the end of Pier 8 of Walsh Bay wharves on Sydney Harbour, in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. "Tri" was created by Phil Price in 2004 and installed here as part of the Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk. Made from carbon fibre composite, the top three sections move in the wind.The Sydney Harbour Bridge can just be seen behind Pier 7 and Milsons Point is in the distance.

QVB Chambers is a commercial building along York Street, opposite the Queen Victoria Building (QVB). The heritage listed former warehouse was built in 1922 in the Federation architectural style. It has previously been known as Globe & Pennon House, Namkwong House and Eagley Building.

St Peter's Presbyterian School Hall is located along Blues Point Road, in the northern suburb of North Sydney. This heritage listed building was designed in the Victorian Georgian architectural style and built in the late nineteenth century. It was once part of the school on this site associated with the nearby St Peters Presbyterian Church.

Hornsby, water clock

"Man, Time and the Environment", also known as the Hornsby Water Clock is a fusion of kinetic sculpture, decorative fountain, musical instrument and a functional clock. It is located in Hornsby Mall, a pedestrian mall in Florence Street, in the northern suburb of Hornsby. This work, unveiled in 1993, was created by Australian sculptor Victor Cusack from cast bronze, stainless steel, and toughened plate glass. It features sculpted forms of the fauna of Hornsby Shire from a rainbow lorikeet, to a cormorant, blue tongue lizard, fruit bat and possum.

Wollstonecraft, Oyster Cove Gasworks

The remains of the Oyster Cove Gasworks are located along Wondakiah Drive, in the north shore suburb of Wollstonecraft. This was originally the site of Robey's Sugar Works, later taken over by the Colonial Sugar Refinery Co. In the late 1860s the Australian Mineral Oil Co. established a kerosene works here and from around 1890, part of the site was also used by the Neokratine Safety Explosive Co of N.S.W. The North Shore Gas Co took over in 1912 with construction of coal gasworks from 1913 to 1917, which operated until 1987. Wondakiah residential development was built here from 1998 with restoration and redevelopment of the remaining structures on site which are the Boiler House, the Exhauster House, the Carburetted Water Gas Plant and the Chimney.

Croydon Park, Uniting Church Disability Services

Uniting Church Disability Services building is located along Georges River Road near the corner of Brighton Avenue, in the inner west suburb of Croydon Park. It sits beside the Croydon Park Uniting Church, which suggests it may have originally been built as a church hall and administration building. They provide help with supported accommodation and independent living, decision making and respite care for people in the community with disabilities.

Ultimo, The Goods Line, sculpture

This contemporary sculpture is located along an urban walkway known as "The Goods Line", in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. It is in front of one of the buildings of the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). The Goods Line was built along a disused rail corridor from Central railway station from Railway Square to Darling Harbour and also features a linear park and open space.

Barangaroo, International Towers

Tower Two is one of three new skyscrapers known as International Towers, in the inner city suburb of Barangaroo. The three towers have been built in the block bounded by Barangaroo Avenue, Watermans Quay, Scotch Road and Exchange Place, with the walkways Shipwright Walk and Mercantile Walk between them. This is the view from Wulugul Walk along the foreshore, with the Alexander Residences apartments in the foreground.

Queen Victoria Building, sculptures

These domes and sculptures stand above the George Street entrance of the Queen Victoria Building, which houses retail shops, cafés, and restaurants. The Queen Victoria Building was designed by George McRae and completed in 1898 in the Romanesque architectural style and restored in 1986. The sign reads: This stone was set July 29, 1896 by I.E.Ives, Mayor of Sydney. The sculptures, created by William Priestly MacIntosh and installed in 1899, are: a female figure representing Wisdom and Justice, a male figure representing Labour and Industry and another male figure representing Commerce and Exchange.

Circular Quay, ferry and bridge

This view of a ferry at Circular Quay ferry wharves, stretching to Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge is from the viewing platform above Circular Quay railway station. The Queenscliff is a Freshwater Class ferry acquired in 1983 and is part of the fleet that operates from Circular Quay to Manly. It was named Queenscliff after the northern suburb near Manly.

Sydney Town Hall, Druitt Street

This side view of part of the Sydney Town Hall is from the corner of Druitt Street and York Street. The heritage listed building was designed by John H. Wilson and completed in 1889 in the Grand Victorian Second Empire architectural style. It is Spring now and the leaves on the trees have just started to grow.

Haymarket, In Between Two Worlds

"In Between Two Worlds" is an art installation located in Chinatown at Haymarket. This artwork, created by artist Jason Wing, explores themes of heaven and earth featuring painted wall murals, etched granite floor murals and 30 suspended illuminated spirit figures. This night view is from Hay Street, looking down Kimber Lane. A daytime view can be seen here.

Haymarket, Paddy's Markets

This hand painted sign is on the wall of a Ultimo Road entrance of Paddy's Markets, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. Paddy's Markets have operated in Haymarket since 1834 and this is part of a series of murals designed by a local artist David Doyle to mimic some of the past advertising signs. King Street Wharf 3

King Street Wharf 3 is the former ferry wharf located at King Street Wharf which has now be replaced by Barangaroo Wharf. It was used by Sydney Ferries First Fleet and RiverCat class ferries operating F3 Parramatta River and F4 Darling Harbour services from 2010 until 2017 but will be reopened for use by private operators.
