Gold Fields House

Gold Fields House is a commercial office building at 1 Alfred Street, between Pitt Street and George Street, at Circular Quay. This 25 storey building was one of the city's earliest high rise office buildings, constructed in 1966. With spectacular views of Sydney Harbour, approval has been granted for it to be soon redeveloped into apartments. This view is from the walkway beside the Cahill Expressway.

  1. Wow the views from these soon to be apartments would be spectacular, but as much as I adore the Bridge, I don't think I could live so high up..What about you Jim?

  3. PerthDailyPhoto, it would be a bit of a novelty at first but I don't think I could live in a high rise apartment permanently either.

  4. Hope it isn't altered too much. A bland building but historically very significant.

  7. The view would be lovely be the apartments when it is converted. 25 floors does not seem very high. Great capture.

  17. Bridget Larsen, this building is very close to Circular Quay, just behind the railway station. Quay West Apartments are a bit further over in Gloucester Street.

  18. I think the buildings built from the gold fields in Victoria are more pleasant than this.

However as for living in high rise ... if I have to live in the city I love it especially when there is a great view.

  23. This is NOT just another picture of a tall building. It is an awesome one and SO appealing to me. Love the perspective. It looks like it is reaching for the stars...and the lines are great. This is one I really like. genie

  24. I'm wondering if you had to lie on your back on the ground to get that building shot? :-) Kind of made me dizzy as scrolled down. Thrilling photography!
