Newtown, mural

This is part of a mural on the side of a shop and residence on the corner of King Street and Camden Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. It was created in 2016 by artist Nico Nicoson, aka Nico, but has been replaced by a couple of different murals since then.

Kingsgrove, Uniting Church

 
Kingsgrove Uniting Church is located on the corner of Kingsgrove Road and Moreton Street, in the southern suburb of Kingsgrove. It was originally the Kingsgrove Methodist Church. The Methodist Church became part of the Uniting Church in Australia in 1977.

Pyrmont, weathervane

 This weather vane or weathercock is located on the community centre at Refinery Square off Bowman Street, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. This building was the former main office or administration building of the Colonial Sugar Refining (CSR) Co Ltd, which had a major sugar mill, sugar refinery, rum distillery and building products manufactured here. The site has been redeveloped with apartment blocks like The Distellery rising high into the sky.

Sydney Opera House, ice cream van (Theme Day: Fruit)

This food van is located along the promenade at Circular Quay West, at the Rocks. It is near the Overseas Passenger Terminal and opposite the Sydney Opera House. "Artsicle Ice Cream" sells artististic, popsicle style ice cream in iconic shapes. The flavours are vanilla Opera House, chocolate Harbour Bridge, salted caramel The Rocks ASNC Building, strawberry Sydney love heart, plus they also have a coconut Snow Man and mint-chocolate Christmas Tree.

Elizabeth Street, Lawson Place

 

Lawson Place is a commercial building between Elizabeth Street and Phillip Street. This view is of Elizabeth Street which features a Piccolo Me cafe on the ground floor. The building next door was originally home to the Broughton Club which had become the United Services Club by 1907. It became the New South Wales Leagues Club from 1915, housing the rugby league offices and committee rooms, bars, billiards and card rooms and residential quarters. It expanded into this former warehouse building but the club closed in 2015 and it became a Mercure Hotel. After extensive renovations, it became The Sebel Sydney Martin Place hotel in 2024, with its main entrance in Phillip Street.

Barangaroo, ferry

A late afternoon view across Darling Harbour, to the wharves at Barangaroo. The tall buildings in the background are Crown Sydney, One Sydney Harbour and International Towers. Ocean Dreaming 2 is a ferry used for cruising and whale watching. It features indigenous artwork which utilises the dendroglyph technique and features the names of clans in and around Sydney Harbour.

Chatswood, Mashman Park

This artwork is on a wall at Mashman Park, located along Victoria Avenue in the northern suburb of Chatswood. It is a tribute to William and Henry Mashman who operated Victoria Pottery on this site which produced terracotta and stoneware including chimney pots, urns, chicken feeders, bread crocks and storage jars. In 1959 the Royal Doulton Company bought the business but ceased trading in 2000. The factory was redeveloped into residential apartments in 2004 and this park. “Paydirt. A tribute to the Unknown Industrial Potter” is an environmental art design project by Peter Day and Jo-Anne Fuller which integrates the history of the site with a fountain's splash tiles and a brick bas-relief by Suzie Bleach and Andrew Townsend.

Oatley, baths

This view of the Oatley Park Baths and the Georges River is from Sandy Beach on Oatley Bay. The baths were originally constructed in 1909 and are still utilised by the Oatley Amateur Swimming Club which was established in 1927. Across the river is the southern suburb of Como.

The Rocks, Argyle Terrace

"Argyle Terrace" is a pair of heritage listed terrace houses along Playfair Street in the Rocks. They were built in 1883 in the Victorian Italianate style as two storey worker's cottages. They were combined in 1972 to form a larger space for a restaurant tenancy, now housing Caminetto Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria.

Circular Quay, ferry

This ferry has departed from Circular Quay ferry wharf and is travelling past Bennelong Apartments and Opera Residences, with Quay Apartments on the right. The Fantasea Joy is a 23 metre catamaran ferry which cruises around Sydney Harbour.

Circular Quay, ferry

This ferry has departed from Circular Quay ferry wharf and is travelling past Bennelong Apartments towards the Sydney Opera House. It is an Emerald class ferry operated by Sydney Ferries which entered service on Sydney Harbour in 2017. It is named Bungaree for an Aboriginal Australian from the Broken Bay area, who was known as an explorer, entertainer and community leader.

Mascot, mural

This mural is on the amenities building in Memorial Park in the eastern suburb of Mascot. It was created by street artist Tim Phibs in 2021, featuring native fauna and flora around the whole toilet block such as the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo and Rainbow Lorikeet.

Leichhardt, Presbyterian Church

 

This heritage listed former Presbyterian Church is located along Marion Street, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. It was built in 1885 with a façade of Romanesque inspired details including coloured bricks which are now painted. The church functions ceased in 1980 and it is now used as a child care centre.

Ashbury, observation tower

This observation tower is located in Peace Park, along Trevenar Street in the inner west suburb of Ashbury. Behind it is the heritage listed Ashfield Reservoir which was built in 1912 and is one of a group of four similar elevated reservoirs in the Sydney Water system. The site was a brick pit and shale quarry from 1910 to 1965. It was used as a rubbish tip until it was filled in and then developed into parkland. In 1986 it was named Peace Park to mark the International Year of Peace.

The King George V (KGV) Recreation Centre is located along Cumberland Street in the Rocks. It provides indoor and outdoor sports and fitness facilities and a range of community services.

East Circular Quay, Bastille Olympic Village

The Bastille Olympic Village was located at East Circular Quay for the Bastille Festival and to celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.The village featured oversized 3D sculptures of iconic Paris landmarks, such as this six metre high replica of the Eiffel Tower. The other sculptures were the Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Pyramid and the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

This Environmental Services work boat is seen turning around to depart from Circular Quay. ES6 is one of a pair of 12 metre long boats used by the New South Wales Government Maritime Authority since 2022.

Glebe, mural

 

This mural is on the back wall of a shop along Grose Street, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. It was created in 2007 by Claudia Macleay but looks rather faded now. It features a fossilised wyrm or wingless dragon and a woman with a steaming cup of tea conjuring a vision of the farming that created this brew.

The Rocks, clock tower

A view of the clock tower which rises above Clocktower Square, on the corner of Harrington Street and Argyle Street in The Rocks. Clocktower Square was built in 1989 and comprises of a two-storey retail arcade, six-storey office tower and 61-room Rendezvous Hotel. Past the bare branches of the trees is a glimpse of Circular Quay.

Sylvania Waters, Doltone House

 
Doltone House is located along Belgrave Esplanade, in the southern suburb of Sylvania Waters. It was originally built as a reception centre in 1969 by Dolly and Tony Stubbs, with the name Doltone House derived from joining their first names. This venue has been redeveloped and expanded to now feature four function centres. It was sold to the Biaggio Signorelli and his son Paul in 1994, who havd expanded the business to five other venues around Sydney and New South Wales.

Sylvania Waters, house

This commercial and residential building is next to the Doltone House function centre, located along Belgrave Esplanade, in the southern suburb of Sylvania Waters. It was originally built as a four bedroom house and then used as a restaurant and cafe. It is currently being used as office space.

Haymarket, Market City (Theme Day: Flea Market)

 

This ornamental clock is part of the Market City complex, located along Ultimo Road, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This complex contains a produce and flea market known as Paddy's Markets on the ground floor, the Market City shopping centre on three levels above, and a skyscraper apartment building called The Peak. The Vegetable Market building was built in 1909 in the Edwardian style with the façade preserved and restored in the 1980 redevelopment.

Elizabeth Street, hotel

This historic building is a boutique hotel with commercial space between Elizabeth Street and Phillip Street. This view is of Elizabeth Street which features access to the hotel, an Anthony Squires men's outfitters store and entrance to an Anytime Fitness gym on the lower ground floor. The Sebel Sydney Martin Place hotel, which opened in 2024, has its main entrance in Phillip Street. Sans Souci, St George Sailing Club

St George Sailing Club is located along Riverside Drive in the southern suburb of Sans Souci, is at the mouth of the Georges River on Botany Bay. The outdoor dining area is popular on a sunny winter day.

The "Maho Magic Bar" is a neon pop-up venue which has been installed in Pyrmont Bay Park. It hosts a magic show which features charismatic master magicians from Japan.

This tiled artwork in intricate patterns and lush colours is on a laneway fire exit along Market Row. "In Through the Out Door" is a series of three artworks created by Callum Morton in 2024.

Australian National Maritime Museum, art

This mural is located on the forecourt of the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. "Shallow Iridescence" was created by local artist InkHunter in 2023. It features a giant blue-ringed octopus in a flared up posture, warning and warding off interference, signalling the need to give the ocean space to recover.

Sydney Harbour, cruise ship

 
The Pacific Adventure is a Grand-class cruise ship operated by P&O Cruises Australia. It was previously named Golden Princess when built in 2001. It is seen here turning around to depart Sydney Harbour, assisted by the PSA Marvel, a tug boat built in 2020. The office buildings in the distance are in the northern suburb of North Sydney.

This River Class ferry began operating in 2019 and was named after Olive Cotton, a pioneering Australian modernist photographer.
