Magnificent is right! I love that clock tower.
Your building is beautiful, I love post office. Great place to be when you got so many postcard to send.
Tony, thanks for that link to other Newtown. These two buildings certainly are similar. I'll be featuring some more Newtown buildings in the days ahead.Sydney - City and Suburbs
What a beautiful building! Your photograph is wonderful.
I caught up on your postsand enjoyed them as usual. I prefer the beach at Coggee to the city but the smokestack pix are exceptional.
oh my goodness J Bar, I want to marry you and have your babies. I normally assume that the Queen Anne style was not popular in Australia (too dark, too heavy for our climate) and where it was used, it was used mainly for large domestic buildings. Does the Newtown Post Office still exist?
Thanks Hels, you made me blush. The Newtown post office definitely still exists in this building. Luckily, they haven't converted into a shop or cafe (or left it vacant), unlike so many other old post offices across Sydney unfortunately.
The architecture of this post office is wonderful, especially the clock tower.
You've captured beautiful architecture. I love the perspective.
Wonderful old building with great architecture. Our GPO has been converted into 50 shops! Melbourne Daily Photo
Had to laugh whilst reading the comments. Go Jimbo, go!!BFG: our GPO in Martin Place has also been converted into upmarket watering holes.
lovely old building!
