Newtown Post Office is a heritage building on King Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. Built in the 1890s, this magnificent building was designed by government architect W L Vernon, in the Queen Anne style.

Tony, thanks for that link to other Newtown. These two buildings certainly are similar. I'll be featuring some more Newtown buildings in the days ahead. Sydney - City and Suburbs
oh my goodness J Bar, I want to marry you and have your babies.
I normally assume that the Queen Anne style was not popular in Australia (too dark, too heavy for our climate) and where it was used, it was used mainly for large domestic buildings. Does the Newtown Post Office still exist?
Thanks Hels, you made me blush. The Newtown post office definitely still exists in this building. Luckily, they haven't converted into a shop or cafe (or left it vacant), unlike so many other old post offices across Sydney unfortunately.
