Queen Victoria Building, Christmas Tree

The giant Christmas Tree at the Queen Victoria Building was renovated to match the building renovations this year. I think I preferred the more natural look from previous years, as seen here. I also preferred the look of the building before the renovations, as seen here.

  5. Yes, I captured some of the tree last year too but did not hunt around the entire building as you have done. Good post back them, BTW.

Now heritage colours. Who sets these? Who is to say that the richer burgundy is heritage whereas the lighter cherry is not heritage? I can see more readily what you object to now. The RHS looks lighter and more 'consumer-digestible" if I can compose that horrid concept. I actually did not notice the handrails but they are so obvious in the photographs. I still find the elevators the most objectionable part of the update. And the reflections that they make just detracts from the gravitas of the building.

Good set of links to go with this post, Jim. Appreciate them.

  6. I too preferred the "old" tree, and I do hope the renovations haven't spelt and end to the tacky screwed up "conveniences" sign across the door of the upstairs loos!
